Prof. Bert SHI Shares Insights on AI and Robotics for Active Aging at ASPIRE League Forum 2026

HKUST Center for Aging Science is pleased to share that Prof. Bert SHI, Director of the Center for Aging Science, Dean of the Fok Ying Tung Graduate School, and Chair Professor in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, participated as an invited speaker at the ASPIRE League Forum 2026, hosted by Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

Bringing together leading universities across Asia, the ASPIRE League Forum 2026 focused on the theme “Active Aging: Interdisciplinary Solutions for Longevity and Wellbeing.” The forum provided a platform for researchers and thought leaders to explore innovative approaches to promoting healthy aging and improving quality of life for older adults. 

As part of the symposium “Enabling Technologies in Active Aging,” Prof. Shi delivered a presentation titled “Adapting AI and Robotics to Improve Geriatric Care and Care Transitions.” Drawing on his expertise in artificial intelligence, computational neuroscience, human-machine interaction, and robotics, Prof. Shi discussed how emerging technologies can support healthcare professionals, enhance care delivery, and facilitate more effective transitions across different care settings for older adults.

The session featured distinguished speakers from leading institutions, including NTU Singapore, Tsinghua University, KAIST, Science Tokyo, and international partners, highlighting interdisciplinary perspectives on aging research and technological innovation.

Prof. Shi's participation reflects HKUST's commitment to advancing research and innovation in aging science. Through the Center for Aging Science, HKUST continues to foster interdisciplinary collaborations that leverage artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital technologies to address the opportunities and challenges of global population aging.

The Center looks forward to strengthening international partnerships and contributing to the development of impactful solutions that enable older adults to live healthier, more independent, and fulfilling lives.
